Doepke - safety since 1956

When the company was founded in 1956, Franz Doepke and Wilhelm Engels in Norden (East Frisia) did pioneering work in residual current circuit breaker technology: they developed, produced and sold the first residual current circuit breakers. Initially, business was slow, as residual current circuit-breakers were neither common nor mandatory at the time. In the following years, the company moves several times within the North.

In 1968, Engel's son joins the business and takes over his father's responsibilities.

In 1976, there is another change at the top of the company: Joachim Hagemann takes over responsibility for domestic sales. Doepke also moves for the last time: Stellmacherstraße in the Leegemoor industrial estate is still the company headquarters today.

In 1977, Manfred Schmidt joins the management team and provides support in the areas of technology and product and process development.

In 1979, the subsidiary Doepke UK is founded. This marks Doepke's first major step towards internationalization.

1983 Engels junior leaves the company and his management position in production.

1993 Doepke opens another site: the plant in Bickenriede in Thuringia initially employs 15 people in the production of circuit breakers and the manufacture of assemblies.

In 1995, there are some changes at the top of the company: Manfred Schmidt takes care of technology and development, Joachim Hagemann manages the commercial area. The two men are supported by a three-member advisory board.

In 1998, founding father Franz Doepke dies at the age of 74.

In 1999, a further step towards internationality is taken and the subsidiary Doepke International Dubai is founded.

2009 Hagemann retires. Andreas Müller and Heinz-Erhard Weeken form a management trio together with Manfred Schmidt.

2016: Doepke has grown over the years, and not just in terms of the company. The company has also grown in size. Just in time for the company's anniversary, another such expansion takes place - the main building is converted and extended.

In 2018, Doepke takes a step towards digital sustainability. Doepke redesigns its entire brand identity - new colors, new website, new communication via social media.

2019: Doepke continues to grow with the acquisition of further properties - and the number of employees also continues to grow.
