Had to replace a lamp, but the same was no longer available. Great advice, found a suitable replacement and delivered it quickly.

Switch Types for Every Application

Our range covers all standard switch configurations for professional electrical installation:

  • Rocker switches – standard flush-mount type for residential and commercial interiors
  • Two-way switches – for switching a circuit from two points, e.g. staircase lighting
  • Intermediate switches – for multi-way circuits with three or more switching points
  • Control switches – with integrated indicator light for non-visible loads
  • Push-buttons / momentary switches – self-resetting, for doorbells and pulse relays
  • Toggle and lever switches – robust configurations for commercial and industrial use
  • Microswitches – electromechanical miniature switches for control applications

Products are designed for a wide range of conditions: dry indoor spaces, wet areas (IP44 / IP55), and demanding industrial environments. The variety of configurations and switching positions means there is always the right solution for your project.

Electrician's tip: When replacing a single-pole switch with a two-way switch, check first whether the third conductor (switching wire) has already been installed in the flush-mounted box. Without it, a two-way circuit cannot be realised.

Surface-Mounted or Flush-Mounted: Choosing the Right Type

Switches are available as surface-mounted switches or as flush-mounted inserts. Surface-mounted switches are fitted directly onto the wall surface — ideal for garages, basements, workshops, and retrofits without chasing. Flush-mounted inserts sit inside the wall and deliver a clean, flat finish for residential and commercial interiors.

Flush-mounted inserts are installed in flush-mounted boxes and completed with a matching frame and cover plate. Many models feature rear connection terminals for straightforward, standards-compliant installation directly in the junction box or at the wall.

Brand Switches from Gira, Busch-Jaeger, Jung & More

Our switches come from established manufacturers including Gira, Busch-Jaeger, Berker, Jung, and Merten. All products meet current standards for electromechanical performance, metal contacts, and safe circuit interruption.

One practical advantage of system products: switches, sockets, dimmers, and accessories within a series share the same frame dimensions. Mixed installations can be completed with a consistent look without having to accommodate different frame systems.

Switches for Commercial, Industrial, and Smart Home Use

Beyond standard installation switches, WATT24 carries specialist variants for commercial and industrial requirements: switches for network infrastructure and building management systems, versions with higher mechanical load ratings, and configurations for harsh environments. Toggle and lever switches are particularly suitable where robust operation and long service life are essential.

Smart home-capable switches with integrated electronics for KNX, ZigBee, or wireless control are also part of the range.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About Switches

What is the difference between a switch and a push-button?
A switch maintains its position permanently (on/off). A push-button is self-resetting: the circuit only remains closed while it is pressed. Push-buttons are used for doorbells, pulse relays, and staircase lighting timers.
What is an intermediate switch?
An intermediate switch is used in multi-way circuits with three or more control points. It is installed between two two-way switches and has four terminals. Typical application: long corridors or staircases with three or more switching points.
What is a control switch?
A control switch has an integrated indicator light showing whether a connected load is on. It is used when the load is not directly visible, for example with heating units, ventilation systems, or sockets in concealed locations.
What protection rating do I need for switches in wet areas?
In wet areas such as bathrooms, a minimum of IP44 is required. For outdoor applications or particularly damp environments, IP55 or higher is recommended. Surface-mounted switches for outdoor use are available with sealed housings.
Can I replace a standard switch with a push-button?
Yes, but only in combination with a pulse relay or bistable relay. A push-button alone cannot maintain a circuit in the on position. Combined with a relay, it replicates conventional switch behaviour and is commonly used in staircase lighting or smart home installations.
