Sensors fall into the area of automatic lighting control. A distinction is usually made between presence sensors, motion sensors and light sensors.

Presence sensors and motion sensors

The light is switched as soon as movement is detected. So-called motion sensors are used both indoors and outdoors. The choice of the right sensor depends on the needs of the application area. Most manufacturers use motion sensors outdoors and presence sensors indoors. Presence sensors usually have higher sensitivity than motion sensors.

Light sensors or twilight sensors

Light is switched on as soon as the illuminance falls below a certain level. To do this, the brightness sensor measures either the amount of daylight outside or artificial light inside. The level of illumination at which the sensor switches on additional light is determined individually in advance.
