CIMCO - Secure since 1827

CIMCO can look back on a very long company history. The family business, now in its sixth generation, had its beginnings back in 1827, when Johann Christian Müller opened a pliers forge in Remscheid. From the very beginning, the focus was on precision craftsmanship.

The second generation took over in 1880. The sons Carl August and Carl Julius Müller remain pliers manufacturers, but separate from the business.

1906 The third generation joins the company. Carl Robert Müller takes over the company from Carl Julius Müller and expands it to include a trading operation. The company moves in 1910. Hohenhagener Straße is still the headquarters of CIMCO Werkzeuge today.

In 1937, the fourth generation joins the company. Together with his father Carl Robert, Carl Julius Müller founds a general partnership. One year later, in 1938, the company name CIMCO is established.

The business premises and a large part of the finished goods warehouse are destroyed by aerial bombs during the Second World War. Initially, temporary offices and warehouses are built next to the undestroyed factory buildings, and in 1951 a new office and administration building is erected on Hohenhagener Strasse.

In 1971, the fifth generation, Emilie Brodesser and Karl Emil Quirl, joined the company as partners. Karl also takes over the management and turns the brand into a GmbH & Co. KG.

In 1987, the sixth generation followed with Joachim Quirl. His brother Harold followed four years later.
In 1999, a non-family member, Achim Ebbinghaus, joins the management for the first time.

In 2008, the export business is spun off from the CIMCO tool factory. With Detlef Wichmann as Managing Director, the sister company CIMCO International is launched. After his death in 2019, management is transferred to the managing directors of CIMCO-Werkzeuge.

In November 2013, construction begins on a new logistics building in Karl-Kahlhöfer-Str.
The company expands again in 2017. The foreign companies CIMCO Nederland B.V., CIMCO AT GmbH and CIMCO-Poland SP z.o.o. are founded.

2023 CIMCO changes its name. The CIMCO-Werkzeugfabrik Carl Jul. Müller GmbH & Co. KG becomes CIMCO Werkzeuge GmbH & Co. KG.

The company is planning a grand 200th anniversary for 2027.
