Inductive load

Inductive load describes current lagging behind voltage.

Typical inductive loads:

  • Electric motors
  • wound transformers relays
  • VVG
  • KVG

With AC voltage, an increased current can flow shortly after inductive loads such as motors and transformers are switched on due to the build-up of the magnetic field. This inrush current can be a multiple of the rated current.
