Founded by businessman Sven Gunvaldsen, who moved from lamp sales to his own production, the company is now active in over 30 countries and employs around 216 people. Nordic Design for Long-Term Use
Products are developed by engineers and industrial designers in Lillesand and Odense and tested to European standards at the in-house test center in Odense. SG places particular emphasis on easy installation, modern Nordic design and durability – all luminaires come with at least 5 years warranty, outdoor luminaires even 10 years corrosion protection. The product portfolio includes LED downlights, wall lights, light strips, track systems and outdoor lights for residential and commercial projects.
Sustainability in Practice
SG takes environmental responsibility seriously: 2000 solar panels are installed on the factory roof in Lillesand, generating 807,000 kWh annually – more than the entire own requirements. The surplus is fed into the Norwegian power grid. New product lines such as Junistar Bio focus on bio-circular materials with over 100 lumens/watt and 40% material savings.
Electrician's Tip: SG Armaturen scores with installer-friendly details – the new Junistar Bio downlights have patented springs that minimize installation time. The IsoSafe system allows installation directly into insulation, and the compensation rings accommodate different ceiling thicknesses from 2-48 mm. For larger projects, it's worth looking at the Zip rail systems for quick installation.
